What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is a holistic, evidence-based, client-centred healthcare profession that involves assessing and treating individuals of all ages affected by dysfunction (physical, emotional, psycho-social or cognitive), developmental disorders or ageing.
The primary goal of occupational therapy is to empower individuals to participate as independently as possible in their daily occupations, such as self-care, work, education, leisure, and rest, thereby enhancing their health and overall well-being.
Occupational Therapists assess the gap between an individual’s abilities and the demands of their daily activities. Working closely with clients and, when appropriate, their families, they create and implement personalized treatment plans to bridge these gaps and foster independence.
